Overview
Developmental Language Disorder is a brain difference resulting in significant difficulties with understanding and using language. It affects 1 in 14 children, averaging 2 children in most Irish classrooms.

- Understand what DLD is
- Gain increased awareness about the signs of DLD
- Understand the impact of DLD on a child’s educational progress, social participation and emotional presentation
- Learn ways to support children with DLD within the classroom.
Bio
To mark international DLD awareness day on October 17th, this webinar is brought to you by the Primary Care Speech and Language Therapy Department, Donegal. Fiona McGowan is a Senior Speech and Language Therapist working in Donegal with almost 18 years of experience as a therapist across various settings. Fiona currently provides a Speech and Language Therapy service to DLD/SSD classes (formerly known as Speech and Language Special Classes) for children with DLD and Speech Disorder and has a keen interest in raising awareness about DLD at a community level.
