NCSE - Leading an Inclusive School - Post-Primary

This two-hour seminar for post primary principals and deputy principals school provides guidance on the use, organisation and deployment of additional teaching resources for students with special educational needs.
Event Description
This seminar is provided in the context of the model for allocating special education teaching resources, as introduced by the Department of Education and Skills in September 2017 and updated in 2024 with the introduction of Circular 0064/24 and the accompanying SET Guidelines and Indicators of Effective Practice documents.
Anticipated Outcomes
Participants will:
- Explore current legislation and documentation pertaining to inclusive mainstream post-primary education
- Gain an overview of developments in policy with a focus Circular 0064/24 and accompanying support documents.
- Explore examples of best practice in on the use, organisation and deployment of additional teaching resources for students with special educational needs
- Explore the key role and responsibilities in relation to special education provision
- Investigate SEN policy based on current trends
