EVENT INFORMATION
This two-day seminar is for teachers of autistic students.
Anticipated Outcomes
Participants will:
- Develop an understanding of the learning preferences of most students with autism.
- Explore the various methodologies teachers can use to provide structure in the classroom.
- Participate in workshops to identify methodologies that teachers can use in their own settings.
- Discuss strategies for individual timetables which can help autistic students attend to tasks and manage anxiety.
Seminar Outline and Content
- Focus on the unique learning style of the autistic student.
- Explore the various physical structure and visual timetables which can be used in schools.
- Outline the use of visual methodologies to enable communication with autistic students.
- Provide examples of resources which teachers can use to create visual timetables and structure in the classroom.
An NCSE Certificate of Attendance is available to participants.
Participants will require permission from their Board of Management to attend. Typically, substitution for this full-day professional learning experience will only be allowed: to class and subject teachers and if it is deemed essential by the principal.
