Happy New Year and all the best for 2026 from all of us here in the County Donegal Education Support Centre!

 

Included below is a summary of all CPD events for the upcoming week beginning 26th January 2026 aswell as some other highlights in February 2026 and beyond.

Here is a summary of some other great events/initiatives your school may be interested in: 

  • NCSE Events - Details of any upcoming NCSE Teacher Professional Training can be found here. To register for any of this training please click here.
  • Oide Events - Details of any upcoming Oide Teacher Professional Training and how to register can be found here.
  • ACT AI Academy Project - This is an initiative from Trinity College Dublin, Learnovate, Oide TiE and the ACT AI Academy. They are seeking feedback from all teachers and school leaders in Primary and Post Primary schools with the aim of helping teachers across Europe to gain the skills, tools and confidence to use AI in the classroom.

  • Safer Internet Day - This will take place on Tuesday 10th February 2026 and Oide TiE have kindly offered to hold a free online webinar for Primary Schools on Tuesday 27th January 2026 at 3:15pm to provide an overview of Safer Internet Day aswell as details of resources and classroom activities for schools. This year's theme is 'AI Aware: Safe, Smart, and in Control'. To register for the webinar, click here for further information.
  • Local Voices Programme - This is an exciting, significant and timely educational initiative for Irish schools. Through the project children learn how to become archivists of their local community; putting its recent history and contemporary geography into a beautiful, published record. Fintan McCutcheon, National Coordinator of Local Voices and Emer Cleary, Founder and CEO of Emu Ink Publishing have kindly offered to provide a free online information session on Monday 9th February 2026 from 4-5pmTo register to attend this information, please click here.   • Foreign Language Assistant Scheme - This scheme aims to provide additional support to school communities to experience the target language and its culture with a native speaker. Post-Primary Schools may apply to host assistants who speak the following languages: French, German, Spanish, Italian and Japanese. Closing date for applications for this scheme for this period in 2026 is 2nd February 2026. Further information along with Information Note, FAQs and required forms are all available here.
