Using Tablets (i-Pads) for Teaching & Learning – Basic
This course is open to all post-primary teachers who have access to a tablet PC (i-Pad specifically) and wish to explore the use of tablets (i-Pads) in their classroom – both as a teaching and learning tool.
Course Objectives:
The course will enable participants to:
§ Explore the use of tablet PCs (i-Pads) to enhance teaching, learning and assessment in the classroom
§ Create teaching and learning resources using tablet PCs (i-Pads) to support literacy and numeracy development in the classroom
§ Explore applications (apps) to enhance teaching, learning and assessment in literacy and numeracy.
Prerequisites
Participants should have some experience of carrying out basic ICT tasks (opening, editing, saving, closing files)
Participants are required to bring with them:
• An activated iPad • An individual/school iTunes account • An individual email address
A list of apps, which will be needed to be downloaded in advance of the course start date, will be e-mailed to each participant on registration.
The course is divided into three modules
Module 1: Getting to know the tablet (i-Pad) and some apps
Module 2: Generating content for literacy and numeracy
Module 3: Literacy apps and bringing our stories to life
