Mathematics - Making Worked Examples Work (IMTA)

Mathematics - Making Worked Examples Work (IMTA) Overview
This practical online workshop explores how small changes to the way worked examples are used can make a big difference to student understanding.

The session looks at how examples can reduce overload when students are meeting new ideas, help them see the underlying structure of problems, and prepare them for more independent problem solving later on.

Learning Outcomes
It will explore ways to choose and present examples effectively, ask better questions, surface misconceptions, and move students smoothly from supported practice to confident, independent work — with a focus on approaches that are practical, adaptable, and easy to bring straight into everyday maths lessons.

Facilitator
Darren Russell, Donegal IMTA and Post Primary Mathematics Teacher
